Congratulations to the Greater Richmond Interfaith Program (GRIP).

GRIP has been selected as the 2026 California Nonprofit of the Year by Assemblymember Buffy Wicks. This recognition, presented in partnership with the California Association of Nonprofits, honors organizations across the state that are making a meaningful difference in their communities.

Bay Cities Lodge is one of many community groups that help provide, cook and serve Saturday Breakfast to those who arrive for a hot meal. We generally show up at the GRIP facility at 5:30 am. so that we can start making breakfast.

We are serving on Saturday morning, September 19th, at 5:30 am. Masons, please show up to help with this event. Many hands make light work.

Our Lodge will be at the Masonic Table on Sunday, September 20. We will have our members present, along with some Shriners, Eastern Star, and other Masonic Organizations in the East Bay. You will find us across the street from Dollar Tree. The Stroll lasts from 10 am. to 4 pm.

The members of 4 chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star have donated funds that provided a new dog vest for the San Pablo Police Department. In the above photo you see the dog (wearing the vest presented), the police officer he will be working with; along with the Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron of Mission Bell, and officers of Diablo Star.

Back in 1947, our country was reeling from many major changes. Word war II brought war to our nation. Over 400 thousand Americans died as a result of war casualties. Furthermore, the cold war was beginning…in June of 1948 the Berlin airlift started.

Meanwhile, California and the Bay Area were growing substantially.

Just Over 100 Years Ago, Seven Lodges Served Our Region

The decade ending in 1920 was a period of a lot of suffering and change. In 1918, World War One ended, with an American death toll of more than 116 thousand. During 1918 and 1919, over 650 thousand Americans died of the Spanish Flu. The 18th Amendment ended most legal alcohol consumption, and the 19th Amendment finally gave American adult women the right to vote. The number of California Freemasons quadrupled from 21,579 in 1899, to 85,181 in 1921.
